          Keepsakes in the Attic

“His music makes…memories come vividly alive for the listener with heartfelt compositions that are as warm as they are nostalgic. There is a gentle sensitivity to the music. Keepsakes in the Attic is thirteen tracks of contemporary piano music. Bjorck is very careful, very precise, but emotionally accessible.” ~~R.J. Lannan of Zone Music Reporter

“I highly recommend this disk to anyone who enjoys listening to well written, recorded and composed pieces of the piano. It’s a recording that’s suitable for engaged listening or as pleasant background music, and there’s truly something “In The Attic” for everyone to enjoy. Five stars.” ~~Donovan Johnson of Enlightened Piano Radio

“Like a favorite novel you’ve been reunited with, the piano works Jeff does will fill you with pleasant (and maybe even some sad) memories that may help you to understand what you’re really all about.  His keyboard style allows you to listen with ease and enjoy every note and nuance, especially on pieces like “Returning Home“… truly one of the prettiest piano pieces I’ve listened to (yet) in 2016!  …HIGHLY RECOMMENDED” ~~Rotcod Zzaj, Improvisation Nation

“Keepsakes in the Attic is the soundtrack that we all seek unconsciously to evoke unique moments, the most beautiful, at other times painful, but each and every one of them with his own notes. The pianist Jeff Bjorck has put music to each of those memories, leaving a perfect album to be enjoyed when past experiences invade us…Keepsakes in the Attic is a highly recommended album. ~~Alejandro Clavijo of Reviews New Age (Spanish Site)

“Dainty and beautiful the rich, slightly ‘olde worlde’ melodic structures touch the heart…this is a very special selection of music which does exactly as it sets out to do, bring a gentle peace, a touch of joy and a haunting whiff of memories, as each of the notes is played with immense skill and love, and like the memories they invoke will remain with you in the ‘attic of your mind.’ Beautiful.” ~~Janet Mawdesley of Blue Wolf Reviews (Australia)

The Wondrous Gift: A Pure Piano Christmas

“Fans of piano music will find much to enjoy on Jeff Bjorck’s latest CD, The Wondrous Gift. Comprised entirely of classic carols, Bjorck’s performance on a well-recorded Yamaha C7 concert grand piano is at once contemplative, innovative in interpretation, sound in technique and just plain beautiful. His recording engineer, Bill Pearson, wasn’t afraid to let the depth and wonderfully full lower registers of the C7 come through on these recordings, and it adds immediacy to all of the selections. Many of your favorite carols are here in the 12 included tracks, along with a few that aren’t often heard, such as “Bring a Torch, Jeanette Isabella” and “Coventry Carol.” Few instruments can be as evocative as a solo piano. Bjorck has concentrated since 1997 on producing solo piano recordings, and with “The Wondrous Gift,” he has given piano lovers a Christmas gift of his own.” ~~Rick Sharp, The Alabama Baptist, Nov 17, 2011

“In the hustle and bustle and cacophony of Christmas, this year there is a selah: a collection of songs handpicked by pianist/composer/arranger Jeff Bjorck and his listeners (via an online survey) as personal favorites. Some will undoubtedly be your favorites as well. Mine, Oh Little Town of Bethlehem, opens the CD, followed by a reverent and reflective O Holy Night. Bjorck s ability to never lose the essence of a song, but at the same time infuse it with a renewed meaning and arrangements fresh and fragrant as a live Christmas tree, makes this a cherished keeper. It is a lovely collection of classic Christmas songs to keep and play from year to year.

The Wondrous Gift is filled with solo piano, alternately reverent and festive energy, ascending and descending arpeggios, and melodic surprises. Bjorck infuses the Coventry Carol with the solemnity it deserves (as it refers to Herod s massacre of the innocents) and its spacious and thoughtful arranging reminds us of the paradox and bitter sweetness of Christ s incarnation.” ~~Worship Leader Magazine, Nov/Dec 2010

“The Wondrous Gift is pianist Jeff Bjorck s own wondrous gift to lovers of traditional Christmas music – especially solo piano Christmas music. …This CD should please those who love fresh solo piano arrangements as well as those who want the melodies left intact – not an easy balance, but I think Bjorck has achieved it. Knowing Bjorck s background in theology, it is no surprise that the twelve carols are sacred pieces – no Jingle Bells or Frosty, the Snowman….Jeff Bjorck has been one of my favorite artists since his debut thirteen years ago, and The Wondrous Gift will be a favorite Christmas album for many years to come. Very highly recommended! ~~Kathy Parsons, Mainlypiano.com

Beautiful contemporary arrangement of timeless Christmas classics

I am a big fan of Jeff Bjorck, a talented new age/contemporary solo pianist, so I was delighted to discover this Christmas album of his. Through renditions of classic Christmas carols recast with a contemporary, light flair, Bjorck’s album provides a delightful alternative to stuffy traditional Christmas music or the pop songs that set your teeth on edge. The album covers many of the familiar beloved Christmas carols (O come all ye faithful; O little town of Bethlehem; O holy night; Hark the herald angels sing; Away in a manger; What child is this; Silent Night; It came upon a midnight clear) but also offers a refreshing assortment of carols not as commonly known–and *definitely* not overplayed: Coventry carol; Bring a torch, Jeannette Isabella; O come, O come Emmanuel; and Come, thou long-expected Jesus.

Bjorck’s style is reminiscent of George Winston, David Nevue, or David Lanz, so if those artists appeal to you, you would probably like this album very much. The songs on the album are so consistently strong that it would be hard for me to pick out a favorite, but two tracks that stand out in particular in my opinion are “O come, all ye faithful,” which Bjorck infused with an interesting syncopated rhythm that gives it a nice contemporary air, and “Silent Night,” which begins more sedately and traditionally but then bursts into a lovely delicate variation that transforms it into something entirely refreshing and new.

This album would be good for anybody who enjoys contemporary solo piano, or who is looking for Christmas music full of beauty and meaning. It is so easy and tempting to forget what Christmas is really all about in our modern hustle and bustle of shopping and eating to excess. “The wondrous gift” helps to restore the quiet joy and grace that is the true heart of Christmas.  ~~Monica J. Kern (Lexington, KY United States)

Most Relaxing Christmas Music Ever

The Wondrous Gift is definitely a Wondrous gift to the world. It is perhaps the most relaxing Christmas compilation ever. With the fast pace of the Holidays, it is a wonderful way to slow down and savor the moment. Do yourself a favor this season with The Wondrous Gift. Piano and Christmas rolled into one. ~~Joyce Boyette, Shelby, NC

Peaceful entertainment

The reason I ordered this CD is to have nothing but piano music. So many of the other artists that play instruments end up putting a vocalist…usually just one… on the CD, and for me, it ruins the mood of the CD. If I wanted vocals, I would order a CD with vocalists included. I play this CD, and the other 4 by Bjorck, constantly at work. It drowns out noises that tend to break my concentration and interrupt my work. The music also relaxes me in times of stress. I would recommend this CD and the 4 others to anyone who likes to listen to relaxing music. ~~dberbig

This music gives lovely, timeless respite from holiday rush and hype

In this fast paced world, it is hard to find music that helps you slow down and listen. Bjorck’s thoughtful, rich textured interpretations of these lovely songs are timeless. They are classic songs in the sense that they bring back fond, familiar, sometimes bittersweet memories of times past. At the same time, this music always offers unexpected, interesting subtlety that is all Bjorck’s own. The sound is full and large, both wistful and joyful. You will want to curl up with a mug of tea, close your eyes and savor the sounds. ~~Katherine P. Placek, Yardley, PA

Beautiful Piano Christmas Music

This is one of Jeff’s best cd’s ever. I love the piano and Christmas together – a match made in Heaven. The pieces are all familiar melodies, nothing secular or jazzy. I would recommend this cd to anyone who enjoys the true Spirit of Christmas as portrayed through music, and especially through the piano. ~~Merry Mary, Nashville, TN

A Masterpiece!

I am very familiar with Bjorck’s Writings. The Wondrous gift is a masterpiece. From the very first piece to the end it immediately brought peace to my heart. Silent Night takes me to childhood memories of soft falling snow on a winter's night. Every song has a gentle melody reminding us of the heartwarming season. I purchased the Wondrous Gift last year and am excited to be taking it out for the coming Holiday Season and many seasons to come. ~~Arlene Current, Greeley, PA

Twelve “jewels” perfectly “set” around the Nativity

Jeff Bjorck has a gift for interpreting timeless melodies in fresh ways, limiting himself to–while exploring the boundaries of–the 88 keys of his piano. His are neither rote reproductions of songs from a hymnal, nor the meandering improvisations of a jazz artist. Rather–he finds just the right “setting” as a jeweler selects the perfect setting to display the unique beauty of a gemstone. His Christmas album accomplishes exactly what it sets out to do: it places a dozen “jewels” in carefully crafted settings around the Nativity and allows them to reflect the beauty of the Savior’s birth on their own terms.

This I Know: Ageless Hymns of Faith

“Seems simple: our favorite hymns covered on the piano. Yet, it’s so much more than that–Bjorck reworks each composition, and upon initial listen the musical themes are almost unrecognizable. Known for his Pure Piano Music series, he relies on the simplicity of solo acoustic piano to convey his message. It works, too. Unique arrangements make up for the minimalist instrumentation. At times you’ll find yourself singing a familiar chorus, but more often than not, you’ll be trying to place that one melody. Bjorck claims his album as a tribute to the composers of the melodies for each hymn; the authors are often credited for their lyrics, but he brings a new emphasis on the musical side of the hymns. The perfect combination of classical piano, well-known hymns and contemporary piano arrangements, This I Know is a unique release.

Bjorck’s motto for his music is, “Quiet music to calm the heart in a noisy world,” and This I Know: Ageless Hymns of Faith is the perfect example. Put this in your CD player for a time of calm devotion, or use it as background music at your Sunday Service.”  ~~Worship Leader Magazine, September 2008

“The dancing, Vince Guaraldi-like stride Jeff Bjorck gently grafts onto Come Thou Font of Every Blessing evokes the sonic equivalent of sunrise in an unspoiled, dew-laden meadow. The rest of this CD–the latest in his Pure Piano series–dedicates itself to faith hymns with a similar spirit of artistry and reverence. It Is Well With My Soul begins with the brushstrokes of single piano keys, then unfolds with flower-petal sensitivity. If you’re looking for a lullaby to soothe your child-like soul, Jesus Loves Me finds salve in the instrument’s upper register, its 88 seconds enveloping the listener in swaddling cloth.” ~~Lou Carlozo, Christian Century Magazine

“Jeff Bjorck is a licensed clinical psychologist and professor at Fuller Theological Seminary’s Graduate School of Psychology. He is also an seriously incredible pianist. He calls his music “quiet music to calm the heart in a noisy world” and he is 100% right on the money there. Beautiful stuff here … simply beautiful.” ~~Kim Jones, correspondent for About.com Christian Music~~

This Timeless, Evocative Album Takes You Places. “I’ve listened to Jeff Bjorck’s latest instrumental piano album, This I Know: Ancient Hymns of Faith, several times over the last month or so. While this veteran artist’s lovely renditions of classics such as “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing” and “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross” haven’t yet failed to set a mellow, meditative mood, this collection of 15 tracks (nearly 75 minutes total) somehow turned even more poignant and alive during a recent Sunday afternoon car trip through central Connecticut.

Passing through the snow-covered New England landscape as the sun shined upon huddled neighborhoods, gray smoke exiting chimneys and tall church steeples casting long shadows across bare trees, Bjorck’s music was akin to a time machine. I found the emotion of his playing (and even more crucially, the very rustic, timeless quality of his tone and composition) filled my mind with images of the countless people who’ve worshiped to these hymns over the centuries. Passing by Thomaston I wondered what it might have sounded like inside the town’s Covenant Church during its first Sunday service in 1890 as the founding congregants heard the opening strains of “Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling”—then only a decade old. Bjorck’s melodies come about as close as you can to answering such questions….This I Know: Ancient Hymns of Faith is indeed timeless—but don’t let that fact dissuade you from immediately letting it enrich your present reality.” ~~Dave Urbanski, Senior Developmental Editor of Youth Specialties~~

“This is the third “Pure Piano” album from pianist Jeff Bjorck and it displays the artist’s ability to infuse his music, whether original compositions or his rendition of two hymns (serving as the opening and closing numbers), with depth of feeling and technical virtuosity….Taken as a whole, Impressions in Black and White is a worthy addition to any solo piano music lover’s collection.” ~~Bill Binkleman, Host/Producer, Wind and Wire, KFAI-FM, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota.

“Jeff Bjorck’s latest effort, Impressions in Black and White, is a very welcome addition to my programs. In a vast array of piano CDs, Bjorck’s work truly stands out as fresh and emotionally evocative!” (#1 CD for June, 2005) ~~Joan Richarde, Host/Producer, OASIS and SOJOURN, Montana Public Radio.

“Fans of pianists such as George Winston and Liz Story will find plenty to like here, though Bjorck’s instrumental compositions and playing reflect a vibrancy and radiance that set him apart. The album is marked by a meditative quality, as on Feather’s Flight, a composition weaved around a hypnotic eight-note bass pattern. On Campfire Remembrance, major- and minor-key turns create a compelling tension, until the final notes dissipate like dying embers.” ~~Louis R. Carlozo, Christian Century Magazine, June 14, 2005 Vol. 122, No. 12

There is always something new each time you hear it. Recommended!” ~~Kathy Parsons, Solo Piano Publications~~

          Pure Piano Panoramas
“A stunningly beautiful musical collection. “Pure Piano Panoramas” is, in turn, lyrical, soothing, joyous and inspiring. Jeff Bjorck is an accomplished composer with a huge emotional and stylistic range. The whole CD is a joy to experience! You can painstakingly analyze each cut….or you can just let the music play.
